On the eve of Leolux’s 90th anniversary, Studio Truly Truly conceived an immersive presentation at Alcova, a progressive and creative hub of Milan Furniture Week.
Inspired by the sumptuous, ruched upholstery on the presented sofa, Truly Truly conceived a breathing ceiling of textile volumes that echoed the sofa’s rippled detail as they raised and lowered into the space. Imposing in its scale and form, this kinetic sculpture obscured and revealed the works on show as it gradually breathed through the space.
Truly Truly invited mechanical artist Daniel de Bruin to create the slow movement of the sculpture’s ‘rhythmic respiration’. The textile volumes filled the space, leaving a small area for viewers to move around the perimeter of the room. The unconventional use of positive and negative space combined with the captivating rippling velvet, resulted in a play of surprise and intrigue.
